A new sensation has hit the Nigerian movie industry and is taking Nollywood by storm. Her name is Omoni Oboli. Beautiful and talented, her brilliance on tube has continued to garner her fans amongst movie loving Nigerians. And with her rapidly rising profule, the likes of Omotola and Genevieve may soon trail behind her.
This saw to the star actress emerging as the best actress in local and international
awards like City People and Harlem International Film Festival Awards.
Recently, Canadian based producer of award-winning movie ‘Anchor
Baby’, Lonzo Nzekwe, showered encomiums on Oboli, stating that not only is the actress so good but she is also unequalled in the movie industry with stars like Omotola Jalade, Mercy Johnson, Genevieve Nnaji coming behind her in delivery.
Speaking recently in an interview at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Lonzo
Nzekwe who was adjudged one of the twenty emerging directors at the
Reelworld film festival said, “On the set of Anchor Baby, there was this particular scene where Omoni had to cry and act like one who is deeply frustrated and emotionally disturbed, she got so much into that role that after I had said ‘cut’, the whole crew was spellbound and crying at that stage, I myself, couldn’t
distinguish between Joyce Unanga and Omoni Oboli. She is simply the
best actress in Nollywood.”
