2019 BBNaija: TUOYO Evicted As SEYI, TACHA Face Fake Eviction

Tuoyo has become the fifth housemate to be evicted from the on going Big Brother Naija show while Seyi and Tacha face fake eviction.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Tuoyo’s eviction was announced on Sunday following Avala, Isilomo, Ella and Kim Oprah who were previously evicted.

The physiotherapist was known on the show for his dance moves, bubbly personality in the house and his off-on relationship with Diane.

While on stage with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Tuoyo was shocked that he was nominated by Frodd with whom he had formed a bond in the house.

He revealed that he would continue this fitness and modelling career, capitalising on the fame he had gathered in the show.

Earlier, Ebuka had announced the fake eviction of Seyi Awolowo and Tacha. The housemates, however, were unaware that the evictions were fake.

NAN reports that Seyi was fake evicted by Biggie to teach a ‘lesson’ for refusing to use the Veto power of chance card he won a week before.

On Monday, he was nominated alongside Mike, Tuoyo, Seyi, Tacha and Frood. He, however, refused to save himself with the card which cost him the card.

NAN also reports that Biggie went on to ban him from owning the power of chance card until the show ends.

Tacha was also fake evicted due to constantly commenting that she had followers who will keep her in the house till the last day.

The remaining housemates, who were still shocked from the eviction, continue to battle for the Grand Prize worth 60 million Naira.

Why Northern Actors Are Uncomfortable Acting In The South - ALI NUHU

Award-winning actor, Ali Nuhu, has been in the industry for quite a while. Mostly featuring in Hausa-speaking movies, many perceive him as being snobbish for not appearing in movies made in the southern part of the country. But in a chat with Sunday Scoop, the dark-skinned actor gave his reasons. He said, “There is a disconnection between the film industries in the northern and southern part of the country. There are many reasons for this; one of which is the market. In northern Nigeria, the stories usually have Muslim themes with Hausa tradition, while in southern Nigeria, it is mostly Christian stories with either Igbo, Yoruba, Benin or southern cultures. As a result of different cultures and backgrounds, northern actors are not usually comfortable with the roles they are given in the southern film industry. That makes it uncomfortable for them to be part of the industry.

“Having said that, I don’t think the dichotomy is healthy for the industry because when movies cut across both axis, they tend to attract a wider audience. If there is a way the gap can be bridged, it would be of immense importance to the industry.”

The actor said he had been able to remain relevant in the industry by staying loyal to his target audience. “When I started out with movies in southern Nigeria, I used to experiment with different kinds of roles. And with time, I started realising the type of roles a large chunk of my fans wanted me to play and I adhered to that.

If I am not comfortable with any role given to me, I tell the producer outright that I cannot do it. Every actor should have a target audience and endeavour to give them what they want per time. That is how I have been able to cope over the years,” he stated.

Contrary to the notion that the northern film industry is too strict, even going to the extent of banning actresses from hugging on camera, Nuhu stated, “I wouldn’t say that the industry is too strict, but the background and culture an actor comes from matters a lot. If you’re from a particular area and are loved by the people of that area, if you do things your audience is not comfortable with, you would be automatically rejected. And if you’re rejected in the North, even the producers in the south would not want to work with you.”

BBNaija (S4): ESTHER Becomes First Female `Pepperdem’ Head Of House

Esther has become the first female `pepper dem’ Head of House (HOH) for the fourth season of the Big Brother Naija reality show.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that prior to her win on Monday, the position had been occupied by two male housemates, Jeff and Nelson.

Esther became victorious by winning the ‘‘Memory Challenge" where housemates were required to memorise the numbers of cards found in the house for 20 minutes.

After the 20 minutes elapsed, the housemates moved to the Arena where Big Brother made a twist to the game.

According to Biggie, the housemates were a bit too uptight so he decided to spice things up. He made then dance to music for five minutes.

After dancing, Biggie asked the housemates to guess the location of the numbers in the house and any housemate who guessed wrongly the location of the numbers would leave the Arena.

The first casualties were Frodd, Tacha, and Mercy. Tuoyo got disqualified for the second time in two weeks for talking to Omashola during the task.

Jeff and Mike both got disqualified after breaking the rules. Nelson, Sir Dee, Khafi and Thelma all got axed as they couldn’t keep up with identifying the numbers at the correct locations.

Omashola, Ike, Jackye, Gedoni, Seyi all could not get their locations correctly with Esther reading all locations correctly, making her the head of house.

The Head Of House position comes with 250 Bet9ja coins and the special room where the winner will stay for a week.
