NGOZI NWOSU: "I Get Emberrassed Everyday"

Ngozi Nwosu needs no introduction in the Nigerian entertainment industry. The star of Ripples and Fuji House Of Commotion, has come to be a darling amongst her numerous fans. However, the Nollywood star actress also has her own share of the public embarrassment celebrities face in Nigeria.

According to her, “I get it everyday. In fact a lot. There is this thing about some people. They just hit you at the back because you are a star or something. I don’t like it. It can be so upsetting that I would feel like slapping the person but I would now remember that I have to control myself because of my kind of profession. There was a day I was having a little problem with someone, another person then said that I was exactly the way I act on TV. I then told the person that she was stupid. I’m not a saint simply because you see me on screen. There is an element of madness in everyone and acting is just make believe. Acting a negative role doesn’t make me a negative person. That doesn’t mean people should provoke me just to see what I can do. I will bounce back.”

Ngozi Nwosu also shed light on her erstwhile matrimonial life. “ I was once married. I’m out of it and I just decide to stay on my own because of what I have seen in it. I spent eight years. That is what I’m telling you. If you are married and it’s working out for you, fine. But if you are married and it isn’t working out, no need for you to kill yourself.”

The HOLY MALLAM Event: "Why We Are Packaging It" - Organisers

Mrs Oluwaseun Ogunleye - Conveneer
FROM THE MOUTH OF THE CONVENEER (Continued From Thursday)
All these misconceptions fuelled something in me-to act as a brand literacy /brand consciousness advocate for my fellow SMEs knowing fully well that without a proper brand positioning, these small businesses might not go very far. I wanted the situation in developed countries like United Kingdom and America, where the small/medium brands drive the economy to become a reality in Nigeria. All these led me to starting FUTUREBRANDS CLUB, which is basically a branding club for Nigerian SMEs.

The vision of FUTUREBRANDS Club is to ‘build a pool of brand-conscious and brand-literate Nigerian Entrepreneurs whose businesses will take over the economy of this nation in five years from now.’

Our Mission is to create a platform where entrepreneurs can learn about branding as it pertains to their businesses while also sharing their branding experiences with one another.

The platform we have created to actualize this vision is the BRANDFORUM which is a FREE brand enlightenment workshop for Small and Medium business owners. The brandforum affords entrepreneurs from different sectors of the economy the opportunity of learning about the many aspects of branding and its relevance to their businesses while also rubbing minds with experts.

To date, we have almost 50 heads of businesses, who have attended the quarterly brandforum from its inception in December, 2009. We however are going to reach out to more people in the next one year

Come December 10, 2010, the Futurebrands Club will be marking the 1st Anniversary of brandforum. As part of the anniversary package, two seasoned entrepreneurs namely Mrs. Adesuwa Onyenokwe, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of TodaW Magazine and Holy Mallam, The Ethical Comedian will be in the house to share their branding experiences with us on that day.

Also, the club’s BRAND LIBRARY which is aimed at furnishing Club members with resource materials that can aid their knowledge of branding and subsequent application of same to their businesses will be commissioned on that day.

One of our goals for the New Year is to create more awareness for the Club and the brandforum so that more entrepreneurs can join us and thereby avail themselves of the many benefits that the club and its programmes has to offer.

Furthermore, we will ensure that our brand enlightenment sessions keep offering valuable insight by bringing in seasoned brand professionals and entrepreneurs to the table at every session. (Concluded)

At Last, GENEVIEVE, DBANJ Confirm Their Love

Teenage Looking Genevieve at the party
Actions, they say, speak louder than words. Despite the denials of Nollywood star actress, Genevieve Nnanji, that she was not having any relationship with ace musician and former Glo Ambassador, Dbanj; and Dbanj’s own mother going to the media to debunk the rumour that her son was romancing Genevieve, recent events have come to prove that report right.

The lovebirds confirmed this when they stepped out together at the birthday bash of hip hop duo PSquare.

The birthday party which held at PSquare’s new mansion on Lola Holloway Street, Omole Phase 2, Ikeja, Lagos, paraded the who-is-who in the Nigerian showbiz industry; but Dbanj and Genevieve were the toast of the party.

Dressed in black tunic, Dbanj smartly walked into the party at about 10pm with Genevieve who could have been mistakened for a teenager on account of her sexy and dress-to-kill attire.

And as the duo pecked and necked all night, it was obvious to all present that they were truly in love.

Mrs Oluwaseun Ogunleye - Conveneer
From The Mouth Of The Conveneer

“Over the last few years, I have watched with keenness and amazement the rate at which the entrepreneurial spirit has taken over Nigeria. Today, we have a lot of young people stepping out to ‘do their thing’ against all odds. Needs we never knew existed are being discovered daily and smart entrepreneurs are stepping out to meet these needs. Talk about professional make-over services, facility management services, event planning or even home shopping services. The list is endless. Nigeria has seen the beginning of a new dawn.

“With all the small/medium businesses springing up daily however, one thing really bothers me - most of them lack clear cut differentiation in the market. They are pretty much the same thing, offering the same thing. There is no way to tell A from B. In other words, these SMEs do not have definite brand differentiation or positioning. But beyond that, I have also discovered that most of the entrepreneurs who own these businesses, are either oblivious of the need to brand their businesses or have the wrong mindset to it. Some believe branding is for the big shots as they are the ones who have the financial muscle to hire brand agencies. Others think branding is a project you engage in when you have made a lot of money and not when you are just starting out...(to be continued on Saturday)

How SAHEED BAGOGUN Turned Me Into A Punching Bag - Ex-lover FUNKE ADESIYEN

Who would have thought that handsome and gentle looking Nollywood star actor, Saheed Balogun is a wife beater? Well, immediate ex-lover, Funke Adesiyen, has finally exposed the beast in the actor. Read the exhaustive, unedited account.

In Funke’s words: "He came to my house and we had an argument over someone calling me. He wondered why the person was calling me and all of that. Though he was fuming, I thought he was just pulling my legs and the next thing he did was to pick his keys and tell me he was going and I said no problem. That was some minutes to midnight. He didn’t allow me to see him off to the gate, so I saw him off to the gate in my car.
“He came out of his car to meet me and told me I should go home and I said why not. While I was talking to him, he punched me in the face. I was just there, crying by myself. He drove off and later turned back. When I saw his car lights, I looked up wondering why he was coming back. So, I just drove out of the estate into the street, running for my life and he followed me. I was heading to the hospital because my ear drums were hurting. I didn’t even know what was happening to my system.

“He caught-up with me at the hospital gates and begged me saying he was sorry and all of that. He offered to take me home in his car and I agreed. I was crying and he was begging me saying it wouldn’t happen again and that he didn’t even know what happened and I felt that people make mistakes and because it was the first time, I forgave him. But he continued beating me over every little thing, and the last one did it. I already told him I was no longer interested and we’ve broken up. We have both moved on with our lives and he once ran into me on the street and said he heard I went to Ghana and I said, Saidi, I don’t want to talk about it and he injured me."

TIMAYA Falls In Love With Another Nollywood Actress

The Nigerian pop star singer, Timaya, seems to have a knack for Nollywood actresses. After his beak up with Empress Njamah, whom he reportedly slapped when he went to retrieve his Jeep from her, at her Jehovah Sharp Sharp Church in Lagos, many people thought Timaya would thenceforth run away from Nollywood actresses.

Uche Iwuji - Latest Catch
But that’s not to be as the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa has found another soul mate from the industry.

Star Weekly! learnt from a reliable source that his recent catch is beautiful screen diva, Uche Iwuji, The two have been spotted in many instances, holding hands and acting in ways that is suggestive of a strong romance.

Empress Njamah - Ditched

GENEVEIVE NNANJI: The Problem Between Me And Marriage

For those who think Nollywood star actress, Geneveive Nnanji, has given up on marriage, it’s time to do a rethink. The celebrated screen diva says she’s still willing to walk down the alter with a man if she can find the right person. Geneveive, however, says the problem lies in finding the person with whom she can be compatible. She gives an elaborate explanation on the issue.

Hear her: “As for marriage, it’s every woman’s dream to get married. We can’t lie to ourselves. I do want to get married but overtime I have had opportunities to get married but I realise getting married is not actually the problem. The problem is finding someone you are compatible with because I’m born Catholic, I’m raised Catholic, I don’t believe in divorce. If I get married, I really want to stay married and staying married is not an easy thing. It means you are completely in tune with your partner. It means you’ve found your soul mate because you’ll have to be able to stand a lot of disappointments that would definitely come but then again you have to learn to forgive. For me, before I choose a partner I have to ask myself if this is the kind of person I would be willing to forgive no matter what when the time comes. If the answer is no, then that person is wrong for me. That person is not the person you want to get married to. If you know you can look into someone’s eyes and say yes, this is the most you can do to me. if you actually cheat on me the first time, I can find it in my heart to forgive you. If you can answer that question honestly and truthfully to yourself then you’ll know if that person is your partner or not. So compatibility is the word aside from the physical attributes that have to go with it. I need to be comfortable because I’m a woman and I’m used to a certain lifestyle.”

Pix Of Truck Sent To Pick SUPRR FALCONS From Airport

Nigeria has once again proved that her value system is walking on its head – upside down. While the likes of Patricia Etteh, corrupt former Speaker of House of Reps, who was disgraced out of office, was honoured earlier this year with a National Merit Award, those who really do the country proud at the international scene, are treated with disgrace and shame.

And such was the fate of the Super Falcons, who won the 2010 CAF Women's Championship that held in South Africa and ended last week. The truck you see above is what the NFF, (Nigeria Football Federation) sent to the airport to pick them up.

How they think it's OK to carry these girls in this type of plantain/cow truck is beyond the imagination of sports loving Nigerians who have since been reacting to the woeful show of shame.

Nollywood's UFUOMA EJENOBOR To Face Trial Over Assault Claim

For Nollywood actress, Ufuoma Ejenobor, the next couple of weeks are certainly going to be trying ones as the Lagos State House of Assembly has said it will take a legal action against claims made by the actress, that she was assaulted by a convoy of the Speaker of the House.

Addressing a media briefing on the issue, Segun Olusesi, the Chief of Staff of the Assembly, said the House will make the issue a deterrent case. The incident, which happened on October 29, had two different accounts from the two parties.

While Ufuoma claimed one of the vehicles (the Pilot) in the lawmakers' convoy hit her Nissan Xterra car, Mr. Olusesi, who claimed to be driving directly behind the Pilot vehicle, said Ufoma drove into the convoy, hitting the left rear of ‘the pilot ‘ vehicle's bumper with her right front bumper.

"Even if it is true that we hit her car, which cannot be proven from the video recording, when there is an accident on the road, the first thing you do is not to call a lawyer. So, it was obvious she was onto something right from the beginning and that was why the Speaker directed that everything be recorded," he said.

A rowdy scene had ensued and rather than continue on their journey to Lagos University Teaching Hospital to visit an ailing lawmaker, who died three days later, the lawmakers decided to drive to Zone 2 Police headquarters at Onikan.
A video clip of the incident showed a hystria Ufuoma raving and using abusive words on the police officers in the convoy. Though she claims to have been beaten, the clip did not show any of that. But some viewers say the video may have been edited to remove the assault scene.

SHINA PETERS Blasts TU FACE, Says "He's Empty"

Music star artist, Tu Face Idibia, has  come under fire, from no other people than members of his own constituency. The latest lash to come, is from the Afro Juju living legend, Sir Shina Peters who took a swipe at Tu Face during a TV appearance.

In a brief interview, conducted at TV Continental in Lagos, Shina Peters allegedly said "I want to see someone like 2face to be very successful because everything is just name. But deep down, I’m sorry to say this, he’s empty and it’s not good for our artistes"

This is coming on the heels of several criticisms that have been pouring in over the past couple of years, about Tu Face's rapid drop in the ranking chart. To most fans of Nigerian pop music, the celebrated artiste, who made his mark with "African Queen" has vacated that position for the likes of P-Square.

Tu Face's decline started with the release of "Enter The Place" two years back and has been thus ever since. Not even the fiery "Implication" , his latest offering, has been able to revive him.

BASKET MOUTH's Four-In-One Wedding Ceremony

What else could describe the four-in-one wedding ceremony between popular comedian, Basketmouth and his sweetheart, Elsie, which many have described as the wedding of the year but romantic, trendy and glamorous?

Having performed their traditional wedding rites on Monday, November 1, Court wedding on Wednesday, November 3 and the bachelor’s eve on Thursday, November 4, Basketmouth and Elsie had put all in place for their white wedding and the reception that followed suite.

Adorned in a an elegant white strapless ballgown wedding dress by Pronovias with her hair accessorized with dazzling petal hairpiece and diamond drop earrings and bracelets while the groom, Basketmouth was dressed in a three piece long-tail suit by Saville Tailors, the couple were the cynosure of all eyes.

After their marriage blessing, the couple proceeded to their wedding reception venue which was decorated in their official wedding colours – Fuchsia Pink, Silver and Black. The wedding reception stands out in so many ways: the unique spherical stage, the multi-tier pearl and crystal adorned cake, Elsie’s ‘Single Ladies’ dance and bouquet toss where she was showered with pink. The couple also danced their first dance together that night as they were serenaded by former Lagbaja’s lead singer and Glo ambassador, Ego.

Basketmouth’s wedding was not also short of celebrities as celebrities came out in droves to celebrate one of their own; celebrities that made it to the wedding ceremony were Ali Baba, Bovi, Julius Agwu, Tee A, Teju Babyface, Pastor Tony Rapu, Presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, Jay Jay Okocha, Mudi, Basorge Tariah, Gbenga Adeyinka. Earlier at the traditional wedding and bachelor’s eve, Basketmouth had hosted among other guests celebrities like Genevieve, Kayode Peters, Yaw, Ay, Jedi, Opa Williams, Frank Edoho.

"Why I Don't Have A Rival In Nollywood" - JENNIFER ELIOGU

Unlike some Nollywood star actresses - taking Genevieve Nnanji and Omotola Jolade as a case study - who indulge in bitter rivalry and battle for supremacy in the industry, Jennifer Eliogu, the beautiful screen diva from Nollywood, says she has no such rivary with anyone in the industry. And she explains why.

According to her "I have never had one, you know why? I have never seen myself as a super star, I see myself as ever growing in and out of season. I have no reason to rival with anybody. I am me, uniquely me. I talk me, I walk me, I dress me. I don't live like anyone, I don't talk like anyone, it is just me and my small world. My job is my job, any role I play is because it is meant for me. I don't assume "oh that is what should have been given to me". I am not particular about playing lead roles, it doesn't matter to me if it is a lead role or anything. What matters to me is giving it the best interpretation. So I don't have to rival with anyone.

"
The beautiful actress also uses the opportunity to assure her fans that, even though she doesn't feature in many movies these days, she's still very relevant in the industry.

"People think that when you feature in many films, it means you are moving forward. For me, that is not exactly what it is. Like I always tell people, I am not the everyday actor but I have made impact in the job that I have featured in, and I work depending on the script, depending on the cast. Again, the goodwill we have as Nollywood ambassadors have opened doors and we are using this goodwill to do good and that is moving forward for me," she states.

"Why I Want To Insure My Hips" - BIODUN OKEOWO

It appears the issue of insuring vital body assets amongst Nollywood actresses, has come to stay. A couple of years ago, fans of Nollywood were stunned when star actress Cossy Orjiakor admitted insuring her big boobs to an insurance firm in Nigeria. And early this year, another Nollywood star actress, Mercy Johnson, said she was ready to insure her hips to any insurance company that might be interested.

Now, Biodun Okeowo, another actress, is singing the same tune. The beautifully endowed screen diva, who had a child outside wedlock when she was in her twenties, says she is ready to insure her hips.

Hear her: "Yes o! I can insure it because I love it. Most guys get attracted to me because of my hips."

Biodun blames the failure of her first relationship on immaturity and  says even though she could not describe the experience as horrible, she didn't know what she really wanted at that time.

"It wasn’t horrible, but when you are not ripe for something, you won’t know the right man for you or what you want because of inexperience or immaturity. I believed I was immature then; I didn’t really know what I wanted in a man. Then, I just saw it as an opportunity to be with a guy," she says.

DBANJ Loses His Job At Glo

Just a couple of months after singing the “Jona-Jona” jingle for Goodluck Jonathan’s election campaign, Dbanj has been relieved of his job of Glo Ambassador.

Although no official statement has been issued by the Dr. Mike Adenuga led company, sources close to the management of the company have confirmed the development.

As at the time of filing in our report, there were conflicting reports about the real reason, the Koko master who emerged as highest paid branded musician in the country was dropped.

While majority of people pointed at the “Jona-Jona” song as the real reason, citing the fact that IBB, who is Jonathan’s main adversary in the coming 2011 election, is a major share holder in Glo; others say the Koko Master was removed because of an inter wranging between him and the management of the company over renemuneration.

According to a source, the musician who signed an initial two year contract worth N70million but was allegedly paid for a year, felt insulted at the new sign on fee the telecom giant was offering.

“He was pissed that apart from being a far contrast from his initial sign on fee, it was far less than what was offered P_Square. Instead, he opted out rather than accept what he called a ridiculous and humiliating fee. This development puts to an end, the long running battle between the musician’s management team and GLO officials over sign on fee,” the source stated.

However, a very close source to Dbanj denied that there were such wrangings insisting that the embattled musician was a victim of 2011 political calculations.

Pornography Scandal: TONTO DIKEH Damns Critics Says "damn tradition, it's my profession"

Nollywood fast rising star actress, Tonto Dikeh, has fire back at viewers who accused her of playing some pornographic scenes in a new movie.
In the new movie by Sanga Entertainment, Tonto Dikeh and a host of others - including Muna Obiekwe - got really explicit, kissing, spitting into each other’s mouth, going nude, exposing boobs and genitals in a flick titled ‘Dirty Secret’ and which fans of Nollywood movies have slammed as pornographic. The movie also has some gay scenes in which same sex love making was recorded..

But Tonto has come out to defend her role in the movie, saying she was only being professional as obtained in the industry, slamming her critics as pretenders. The star actress went hard on her critics.

In her own words, "You would like to see me nude in Hollywood and not Nollywood. It's a profession for adults and I'm out to do my job and fuck you if you think otherwise. Rubbish, fucking pretenders! Damn tradition. I've got a mind and a heart which my profession requires. Period."

It would be recalled that a couple of months ago, Tonto was involved in an alleged lesbianism scandal with Ini Edo, another Nollywood star actress-cum-producer in which Ini Edo's husband, who's based in the UK, threatened murder.
