The imbroglio between Nigerian star musician and social activist, Charles Oputa a.k.a Charley Boy , and the National Mirror Newspaper, has taken a new twist as Charley Boy has reportedly filed a N1Million suit against the National daily.
According to sources close to the musician, the suit became necessary when all means to settle the case out of court failed.
Trouble started when National Mirror allegedly published a story in which Charley Boy was said to have confessed to be a gay.
But denying this, the former president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria.(PMAN) said even though everyone was entitled to their view, people should verify the facts of an issue before making it public. "i have nothing against gays, i have guy friends, okada friends, agbero friends, president friends among others. But i never said what they said i said. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but people should check their facts very well before making them public" he submitted.
